ΤΜΗΜΑ ΓΕΩΛΟΓΙΑΣ & ΓΕΩΠΕΡΙΒΑΛΛΟΝΤΟΣ

CURRICULUM FROM 2025-26

The Postgraduate Program (MSc) awards a Master of Science (MSc in Earth Sciences and the Environment) from the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in the following specializations:

a. Geophysics and Seismology – 90 ECTS
b. Environmental Monitoring and Sustainability – 90 ECTS
c. Geoconservation and Climate Variability – 90 ECTS

Program duration: Three (3) semesters, with coursework during the first two semesters and the completion of a Master’s thesis during the third semester.

Total ECTS credits: 90

Qualification level according to the National and European Qualifications Frameworks: Level 7 (EQF)

Fields of Study (ISCED–F):

  • 0521 Environmental Sciences

  • 0532 Earth Sciences

Program structure in academic credits: 30 ECTS credits per academic semester

Tuition fees: €800 per semester (€2,400 in total) as a partial contribution to the operational costs of the program.
Students who are citizens of the European Union and meet the income and academic criteria specified by current legislation are exempt from tuition fees.
Tuition fees are payable at the beginning of each semester.

Type of study: Full-time. This type of qualification is obtained through the formal education system.

Examination regulations and grading scale:

Grading ranges from 0 to 10, with 6 as the passing grade.

Degree classification:

  • Excellent (Άριστα): 8.5–10

  • Very Good (Λίαν Καλώς): 6.5–8.49

  • Good (Καλώς): 6–6.49
