One of the aspirations of the MSc “Earth Sciences and the Environment” is the complete integration between teaching, theory, and research. A large number of MSc students has actively participated in national, as well as international research projects. The research subjects, included in the Curriculum are fully correlated with the modern scientific research in Geosciences, providing thus, specialized theoretical and applied background in modern materials, field and laboratory research methodologies, data processing and management of geoevironmental issues.
Upon completion of the MSc, the graduates will be in position to carry out either independent research, or substantially support research groups, and possess the necessary qualifications for further academic development, pursuing doctoral studies. Research within the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment is supported by 10 statutory Laboratories, hosting, between them, 18 analytical units within the premises of the Department. In addition, active international research collaborations with foreign institutions, provide the MSc students the opportunity of participation and training.
